Archaeological Investigations
Hudson Highlands Environmental Consulting can conduct all phases of prehistoric and 
historic archaeological studies including Stages 1A, 1B, 2, and 3 investigations. All investigations are conducted in strict accordance with the requirements of the pertinent reviewing agencies, including the cultural resource review requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The investigative reports include document research, field investigation, mapping showing archaeologically sensitive areas and locations of tested areas, description of recovered artifacts, and recommendations for further action. Investigations can be prepared to assess the potential for impacts to archaeological resources from proposed land development, highway construction, or other proposed actions.
Historic Preservation Services
Hudson Highlands Environmental Consulting can prepare 
cultural resource surveys in accordance with the requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Phase 1 surveys are often required to gauge impact assessments for highway/rail expansions, commercial developments, housing projects, transmission lines and similar projects. If mitigation is required in phase 3, Hudson Highlands Environmental Consulting can provide archival photographic, and illustrative (measured drawings), and written documentation of historic houses, bridges, industrial sites, etc. Historic American Building Survey (HABS) level of documentation is used as guidelines.
Hudson Highlands Environmental Consulting can assist with the assessment and rehabilitation of historic wood and masonry structures. A study begins with a comprehensive inspection and written report known as an existing conditions survey that indicates the extent, location and cause of all deterioration, and concludes with recommendations and repair options. Laboratory materials analysis and other technical investigations are sometimes utilized to gain a fuller understanding of the nature of the material or severity of the condition.
